Our under 16 footballers played Clones in the Gerry’s Prepared Veg Division 4 league on Thursday 24th April and recorded a comfortable win. We were slow out of the blocks as Clones had a blistering start and built up a 0-0 to 0-3 lead after ten minutes. At this stage it did not look good but after a tough first ten minutes we settled and started to play with more purpose and merited our 2-8 to 1-4 advantage at the break.
Our superiority continued in the second half as we dominated proceedings and played some impressive attacking football and chalked up some super scores. Clones tried hard to get back into the game, and in fairness they never threw in the towel, but despite their best efforts they failed to convert their possession onto the scoreboard and we ran out with a convincing victory on a score-line Rockcorry 4-15 Clones 2-4.
This was a welcomed victory for the team after the heavy defeat against Latton in their last outing. There were some fantastic performances from the lads and will no doubt please the team management (Felix Grannaghan & Emlyn Patterson). Well done to all involved and keep up the good work at training.
