Our Reserve side were beaten this week by Oram in the Division 4 league. The final score reading Rockcorry 2 – 4, Oram 1 – 11. A bright start proved to be somewhat of a false dawn for our lads as our one goal scored by Seamus Carroll and one point scored by Conor Mc Geough was offset by a six point Oram response. Our late reply in the half coming with a Liam Connolly point from the impressive midfielder. Half time Rockcorry 1 – 2 , Oram 0 – 6.
Quick starts seem to be a feature of our Reserve team and Seamus was at it again adding to a Dwayne Rooney point early on in the second half. The young electrician sparked the game into life with his second goal of the game in the fifth minute. However, this was as good as it good for the Rockcorry men as the Oram lads chipped away at our lead scoring three points on the trot. A point from the ever dependable Liam Connolly put Rockcorry in front for the final time before a goal in the nineteenth minute gave Oram the lead. This was an advantage which they never relinquished. The visitors added three more points late on to finish off the game. A solid display by our lads who seemed to run out of steam towards the end of the game but a gallant effort nonetheless.
Team and Scorers – Andrew Carroll, Cathal Sheridan, Rory Carroll, Mickey Carroll, Shane Wynne, Colin Quinn, Conor Mc Geough (0 -1), Owen Fitzpatrick, Liam Connolly ( 0 – 2) , Seamus Carroll (2 -0), Dwayne Rooney ( 0 -1), Anthony Tate, Declan Mc Cullagh, Pauric Carroll and Finbarr Mc Dermott.
