The Monaghan GAA annual dinner and presentation of awards took place last night, Saturday 19th January, in the Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan.
As you are probably aware, 2012 was a very special year for the Rockcorry GAA club, winning our first ever intermediate league title. In the clubs journey to secure promotion to senior football Mark Daly was a consistent performer during the year and he played an influential role to cap off an historic and memorable year.
His immense contribution to the team cannot be under estimated and over the years he has grown in stature and blossomed into a model player. Inspired by his fellow team-mates, Mark lead at the front and probably had one of his best years ever wearing the “Green & White” jersey and please excuse the pun he was “Solid as a Rock” in the midfield area. A massive amount of ball went through him as he linked up with his defence while setting up numerous attacks with his relentless running and his insatiable appetite for hard work.
A naturally gifted player, a leader in his own right, he embodies everything that the GAA stands for. His high fielding abilities were admirable; his tackling impressive, his distribution of the ball excellent, his ability to convert points while under pressure superb and he also showed himself to be one of the finest free-takers in the county. These are just some of the reasons why Mark Daly was named Monaghan GAA Intermediate Player of the Year.
Once again congratulations to Mark on his award and we look forward to many more years of him wearing the “Green & White” jersey.
