The much anticipated bowling competition will kick-off tomorrow evening, Sunday 1st December, at St. Mary’s Community Hall starting at 7.30pm. At the official handing over of the cup Ann Carroll presented the Bosco Carroll Memorial Cup to Pat Brannigan chairman of the Rockcorry Bowls Club.
Afterwards, I caught up with Pat Brannigan and he remarked “firstly I would like to thank the Carroll family for donating the cup. Bosco was a keen bowler and was a key member on the hall restoration committee and would be very proud of this moment.” He continued “organising a tournament of this scale can be a daunting task for those in charge but our committee have worked extremely hard and planned the best event possible and we are really looking forward to hosting our first ever competitive tournament. It should provide plenty of exciting moments because there are a lot of teams with vast experience entering the event and hopefully it should be a great opportunity for people to have fun and enjoy the spectacle on offer.”
I would just like to say that the local bowls club continue to evolve significantly since their origin a couple of years ago and on behalf of my family I sincerely thank them for offering to honour the memory of my father and I hope the tournament is big success and I look forward to seeing it grow in future years.
