Club Notes 9th July

Annual Golf Classic

It has been relatively quiet on the playing field with no matches and very little action to report on but I suppose the only positive thing is the weather Gods have finally decided to let the sun shine and grace us with glorious temperatures. I can’t and don’t speak for everyone but it is very frustrating that when the weather finally gets good yet we have to wait weeks until our next game! Anyway, enough about the weather and I will start this week’s club notes by promoting our upcoming golf classic. It takes place on Saturday 17th August at Clone Golf Course so please spread the word to all your golfing buddies. The cost to enter a team is €120.00 and to book your place please contact our chairman Jimmy McGeough 087-9457279 or Ollie McQuillan 087-2100800 and a member of the organising committee will be in contact with you to discuss a convenient time for you to play. There are also exciting opportunities for businesses, families and individuals to advertise by sponsoring a tee or a green for a reasonable €30 or €50. If you are unable to play golf but would still like to make a contribution perhaps you would be interested in sponsoring a prize for a raffle. If so please get in touch because we would be delighted to talk to you.

All underage players are reminded to make a big effort to fill your Guess the Score cards and if you have not already received one please talk to your team coach.

Garda Vetting

Within the club we always try to promote best practice in the recruitment and selection of people to work with children in the club. It is therefore vital that any person i.e. coach, mentor, manager etc. within the club has completed the relevant Garda Vetting Form. In effect this means that any person working with underage teams on behalf of the club should be vetted. Any member of the committee and / or underage coaches who have not been Garda vetted previously can you please ensure that you fill in and return a Garda Vetting Form to our youth officer Pascal Smyth or our children’s officer, Colm McCormick.
