Auction
Sweet Caroline, oh, oh oh… Apologies’ I’m getting carried away using my new karaoke machine that I picked up at our monster auction last Saturday for a real bargain, it’s very addictive! With Ben “the soul man” Duffy on his newly acquired keyboard we will soon be taking bookings for any weddings, birthday parties or other special events!!! On a more serious note, I have to say our auction went very well, especially considering the current economic turbulence, and on behalf of the club I would like to personally thank the people that attended and purchased items and the people that donated items to make our auction such an enjoyable and successful day. We truly appreciate your generosity and we look forward to your continued support. Also, a huge thank you to the committee members and helpers for the countless days and nights you spent collecting the items, tagging and cataloging all the goods and for making sure the event went smoothly. Your dedication to the cause was certainly evident last Saturday afternoon, great, great job, well done! Thanks to Anthony Tate and Pat Brannigan for their auctioneering skills and to our bankers Noreen & Phyllis Calvert for their hard work, dedication and time, I cannot thank you enough for the effort you put in and we will definitely be hiring you again next year!
Vintage Hay Making / Vintage Festival Day
The excitement is certainly building for our next fundraising venture that involves a traditional hay making / vintage festival day which will take place on Sunday 25th July at Dartrey sports fields at 12 noon. This will be a great opportunity for people to support the club and also have a great day’s craic. Whatever your interests the line up is fantastic and will ensure that all tastes and genres are catered for during the day. For the farming enthusiasts you will not be disappointed as you will get a chance to see vintage tractors, working farm horses, tedders, cocking of the hay, lapping & ricking of the hay etc. There will also be a vintage parade including cars, tractors and machinery and with plenty of other activities lined up such as poultry sale, car boot sale, sheaf tossing, tug-of-war, celli music, fancy dress, bouncing castles it promises to be a great days entertainment and there will be plenty for all the family to see, do and enjoy! Hopefully weather conditions will be perfect for the day of top class entertainment. In addition, we hope to have a night out on the Saturday evening with a massive barbeque and dance in St. Mary’s Hall.
