Club Notes 27th April 2010

Streamline Coaches Intermediate Football League

We picked up our first league points on Wednesday 21st April with a one point victory over Eire Og. The game was evenly matched, from start to finish, where every ball was contested with great energy and determination. There was never more than a kick of the ball between the sides at any one stage and all players gave it their all, and quite frankly they had to as Eire Og through everything at us. Thankfully the lads battled away and won on a score-line Rockcorry 0-11 Eire Og 0-10. Last Sunday evening we picked up two more valuable points with an impressive performance against our neighbours Aghabog and won on a score-line Aghabog 0-11 Rockcorry 1-15.  Please log onto our website www.rockcorrygaa.ie for a full match report on both games and action photographs. Tomorrow evening Friday (30th April) our senior team play Emyvale in Pairc Mhuire and the game has a 7.30pm throw-in. On the bank holiday Monday (3rd May) we have another home fixture against Aughnamullen with a throw-in time of 7.00pm.

Monaghan Electric Reserve Football League Division 4

Our reserve team played Sean McDermott’s last Monday evening and for long periods during the first half we practically played all the football. However, we failed to convert possession onto the scoreboard as we kicked eight wides and many more efforts (I lost count!) landed short into the goalies hands and as a result Sean McDermott’s took a one point lead going in at the break 0-3 to 0-4. Whatever team management said at half time certainly made an immediate difference as we saw a much improved performance with the lads producing some wonderful football and  we finished the game the strongest and won on a score-line Rockcorry 0-15 Sean McDermott’s 0-8. The next game for our reserve team is on Friday 7th May when we travel to Pairc Emmett to play Aghabog at 7.30pm.

Ball Stop Nets Erected

So often, the amount of work carried out around Pairc Mhuire is taken for granted. It is down to the hard work from a group of guys that make sure our facilities and surrounding areas are well maintained. Many thanks to the volunteers who turned up last Saturday (24th April) morning to help with the erection of the ball stop nets behind the low goals. They include Anthony Clerkin, Hugh Carroll, Seamus Tate, Noel Carroll, Seamus Carroll, Keelan Clerkin, Aaron Clerkin, Cormac McFadden, Rory Carroll, and Andrew Carroll. Photographs can be viewed on www.rockcorrygaa.ie.
