Streamline Coaches Intermediate Football League
You could almost hear the theme tune from “The Great Escape” echoing around Pairc Naomh Mhuire last Wednesday (19th May) as our senior team got out of jail with a late strike from Liam Connolly, one minute into injury time, to seal the win on a score-line Rockcorry 1-11 Inniskeen 1-10. The first twenty minutes of the game we totally controlled as we played some wonderful free flowing football, that was a joy to watch, and we totally overwhelmed Inniskeen and at one stage we had built up a commanding seven point lead and at the interval the scoreboard read Rockcorry 1-6 Inniskeen 0-4. However, during the second half our play became scrappy with poor passing, over elaboration, some dreadful shooting and we conceded too many needless frees, all of which gave Inniskeen a lifeline and allowed them back into the game. With both teams having 1-10 apiece going into the final couple of minutes it could off been anybody’s game but when Liam Connolly collected a pass from Barry Patterson he kept his cool under severe pressure and kicked a glorious point to earn the two league points. While our second half performance will be a cause for concern we can be delighted with the win and that’s what it’s all about! Whether you win by a single point or ten points you get the same! Check out www.rockcorrygaa.ie for a full match report of the Rockcorry v Inniskeen game.
