Club Notes 19th January 2010

Team Trainer

David McGregor has been appointed as our team trainer / selector for the year ahead. David is off course an ex-player with the club and was our goalkeeper back in 1982 when we captured the junior double. He has a lifelong involvement with GAA and is also involved with Monaghan Rugby. His reputation ensures that his “no-nonsense” style will be challenging for our players but hopefully this, tough no rubbish talk approach, will drive our players to greater heights this year. He met the players last Sunday afternoon where he strongly emphasized that they will have to make sacrifices and be prepared to work hard for the year ahead. David, on behalf of the club I would like to welcome you back and wish you and the team every success for the year ahead.

 Sympathy

On behalf of the club I would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Lee family on the recent death of Phil Lee. Phil’s involvement with the club goes back to the mid 1930’s when he played football for the club. May he rest in peace.

 Vodafone

You can now support the club financial by simply registering for the “Vodafone Support Your GAA Club”. The GAA have teamed up with Vodafone as an official Give Back Partner. This alliance with Vodafone provides clubs with a terrific new opportunity to raise funds. With the Vodafone Support Your GAA Club programme 5% of a Vodafone customer’s mobile phone Pay Monthly bill or Top Up will go to a customer’s nominated GAA club once the club and customer has registered, without costing Vodafone customers a cent extra. Each Club must be registered in order to receive funds. Club members and supporters also need to register at www.supportyourgaaclub.ie and nominate their GAA club. This has enormous fund-raising potential for the club and we encourage all club members to participate. For more information you can contact our club secretary Paul McKeown.
