Annual General Meeting
The date for our annual general meeting has been fixed for Thursday 29th November. The annual general meeting is the most important meeting of the year and ALL club members are invited to attend in order to reflect on the last twelve months and to look ahead for the upcoming year. It is also a time to elect a new management committee and to communicate with other members about how the club is functioning. Nomination forms will be circulated to all club members over the coming weeks and should be returned to club secretary Martina McKeown before the required date.
Annual Yearbook “A Year to Remember”
It was a remarkable year for the club with our historic senior team gaining promotion to senior ranks and our under 12 and under 14 footballers both recording great wins in their respective competitions to bring home silverware. These magnificent moments’ showed how a small rural village can be defined by the exploits of the GAA and how the club and its teams can influence people within the community it and surrounding areas. There have been many magical stories including one historic moment and this year’s annual yearbook entitled “A Year to Remember” is a game-by-game account of some wonderful memories gained over the year. This year’s annual yearbook will be officially launched at our Annual General Meeting on Thursday 29th November. This collector’s edition is loaded with information and features over 300 pages, including action shots, team photographs from our nursery section right up to senior level, match reports and other interesting articles on various events that the club held during 2012. All our teams have provided wonderful memories and I hope the selection of images that I have chosen from the many games and other events held during 2012 will leave a lasting impression on you. This yearbook is a must for any Rock supporter and copies will be on sale at the AGM.
If anyone is interested in ordering a copy of the DVD please send me a text message to 086-1041165 or alternatively send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your details and I shall put your name down on the list.
Wondering what to buy as a present this Christmas? Well why not buy a mouthguard because it will be mandatory to use a mouthguard in all football matches and training sessions from 1st January 2013 (for all age grades up to and including minor) and at under 21 and adult level from 1st January 2014. If a player refuses to comply to wear a mouthguard, he will initially be cautioned by the Referee and if the player continues to refuse the Referee can send him off. Please note that players may not be covered under the players injury scheme if they are not wearing a mouthguard. There are three different types 1. Stock mouthguards which are preformed and come ready to wear. (Dentists do not recommend their use) 2. Boil & Bite mouthguards can also be bought over the counter at most sport shops and generally offer a better fit than stock mouth protectors. 3. Custom-fitted mouthguards are individually designed and made in a dental office or a professional laboratory based on your dentists instructions. Prices vary for significantly for each type so it is worth seeking and comparing prices from a number of practitioners before you decide to purchase.
A foundation level coaching course will take place in Killanny on Friday 30th November from 7 – 10pm and on Saturday 1st December between 9.30 – 5pm. We would appreciate it if current players, retired players and parents could give this serious consideration and if you are interested please contact our youth officer Pascal Smyth on 086-8161028 for further information.
