Busy Easter break for U7′s, U11′s and the Seniors

While it was a hectic Easter weekend of chocolate consumption, it was also a busy one for a number of teams from the club.

Saturday morning began with the youngest members of the club the U7’s travelling to St Macartans seminary for the indoor league. This was a special occasion for they young players as most of them were pulling on the Green and White of Rockcorry for the first time. A big shout out has to go to Ella, Alex, Patrick, Fionn and Niall who are sure to be stars of the future. Also a mention to Thomas and Ethan who provided some help and to Coach Terry.

The U11’s had their first outing in the newly organised Spring league when they travelled to Smithboro to face Eire Og on Saturday past. Both teams provided a highly entertaining encounter with wonderful skill and team work on show.  A special mention must also go to the referee on the day Daniel Freeman who ensured the game was played in a good sporting manner.

Indeed the performance of the U11’s was keenly watched by senior manager Anthony Tate who’s side perhaps took some heart from seeing the youngsters wear the club jersey with pride as they registered a comfortable win over Truagh in round 1 of the Junior league on Saturday evening, to give the season the perfect start.

It was also great to see a number of new players line out with the senior panel in the opening round of the league, namely Ryan Lynch, Pauric O Brien, Kyle Brannigan, Kyle Rooney and Cian Dillion.

While our underage numbers maybe at a minimum at times, it is testament to those structures, coaches and parents that players are been produced through the system and representing the club at senior level.
