 “Hunt for the Rock Hunk”

OMG, what a crazy, crazy night! It is not often that I am stuck for words but I am struggling to find words to describe such a wonderful night’s entertainment last Friday night, it was quite simply AWESOME. You can forget about the X Factor, you can forget about I’m a celebrity… and all the other rubbish reality TV shows because what we experienced was simply out of this world. The atmosphere was electric and all twelve candidates were incredible as they gave the large crowd plenty of excitement and craic as they battled it out to become the first ever “Rock Hunk”.  It was seriously without doubt the best night I’ve seen in a long time and probably ever will see. We had everything from singers, poets, rock stars, actors, heavy metal guitarists, comedians and strippers which created an absolutely fabulous night. After all the candidates performed it was announced that Cathal “The Rocker” Sheridan was the official “Rock Hunk” for 2010 and he now goes forward to represent the club at the county final which takes place on Saturday 11th December. After the presentation I spoke to a somewhat stunned Cathal and he stated “he was shocked but very delighted with the award”. He said “the past couple of weeks have been hectic and he hoped that he entertained the crowd”. He also thanked his escorts Claire & Manta and his backroom team for their input. Many thanks to all that attended on the night and a big thank you to all the hunks, their escorts and everyone who helped to prepare the hall for the event. Special thanks to our master of ceremonies Adrian Logan who did an excellent job interviewing all the hunks and the escorts and of course to PAP promotions. Please log onto www.rockcorrygaa.ie for a selection of photos taken on the night. If you missed this event you might want to make a mental note not to miss next year’s but the DVD will be out for hopefully before Christmas so please get in touch with me if you would like to get a copy.

Club Notes 9th November

 “Hunt for the Rock Hunk”

All systems are go for our Hunt for the Hunk night which takes place tomorrow night Friday 12th November in St. Mary’s Hall and the doors will open at 9pm with the first hunk due on stage at 9.30pm sharp. During the week Gerry Coyle informed me that he has completely sold out of all fake tan, hair gel and other beauty products such was the demand from the candidates as they make their preparations to ensure they are lookin’ good for the night. During the week I was lucky enough to meet up with a few of the hopeful candidates as they have been extremely busy rehearsing their routine for the night. First of all I talked to Sean “The Planter” Greenan and he advised me that he was looking forward to having a good nights craic. I also spoke to ‘one’ of his campaign managers John Quinn and he pointed that Sean’s performance should not be missed as it will be stylish, unusual and very witty. Well after that build up we will definitely look forward to it with great anticipation! I also caught up with Phillip “The Wolf” Clarke, who said he was very excited about the show and compared himself to a kid at Christmas. Incidentally, I understand that a number of his neighbours have been hearing strange howling noises the past week, let’s hope there’s a full moon Friday night! Finally, I caught up with “The Joker” Patsy Doody and he informed me that things were going well and he was also looking forward to giving a good performance. Whoever said “it’s the taking part that matters” was taking rubbish, as the competition is heating up with all candidates looking for that sparkle, that X factor to get them across the line. This proves to be one of the highlights of the year and trust me you don’t want to miss out as it will be a great night’s entertainment. Please remember that your support will not only benefit the club but also two charities namely the Cormac McAnallen Trust and the Children’s Hospital in Belfast so your support of this event on the night would be very much appreciated. Admission on the night will be €10 which can be paid at the door so call in to St. Mary’s Hall, tomorrow night (Friday 12th November) and support the various hunks. The winning hunk will be awarded a “Rock Hunk” trophy and will go on and represent the club at the county final at the end of November. It is important that you attend on the night to support the candidates as your vote is vital to the eventual winner as the winner will be the hunk with the most votes and votes are based on money collected on the night and each vote costs €2. Details of all the hunks and their sponsors can be viewed on www.rockcorrygaa.ie. MAY THE BEST HUNK WIN!

Annual General Meeting

Our Annual General Meeting will take place on Thursday 2nd December in St. Mary’s Hall at 7.30pm. Nomination forms will be circulated to all club members over the coming week and all nomination forms have to be returned to club secretary Paul McKeown.
